The County of Simcoe Children and Community Services Department directly operates a licensed Family Home Child Care program. Quality child care is provided throughout Simcoe County in one of our approved homes.
What is Family Home Day Care?
Family Home Day Care is provided to not more than five children per home from the ages of infant to 12 years. Care is provided on a flexible basis in accordance to the parents'/guardians' need. Family Home Day Care may be appropriate when:
- one prefers care in a smaller group setting
- one prefers a more home like environment
- the local childcare centres and or nursery schools programs are unable to accommodate a particular age group or have no vacant spaces
- extended hours of care or weekend care is required
Program Objectives
- The provision of a warm, stimulating, smoke free home environment where children can develop physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and creatively
- The assurance that children are safe, have a place to rest and play, and are provided with nutritious snacks and meals
- The opportunity to develop feelings of trust, friendship, self-confidence and responsibility
- To coordinate children's placements in our Agency approved homes
- To foster a sense of teamwork amongst Parents/Guardians, Care Providers and Home Visitors.
