• Choosing quality licensed child care in a home setting
Home child care is provided in a caregiver's home. You can find home child care for infants, toddlers pre-school and school-aged children. Learn more about licensed home-based child care

• Online guide to licensed child care in Ontario
As a parent, you want to choose the kind of care that will help your child learn and grow. Finding the right kind of care for your child can take time and effort. The Government of Ontario child care search tool is designed to provide parents with information about licensed child care in Ontario. Parents can search for care by city, postal code, type of program, age group, program name, operator name or language of service delivery.
• Financial assistance for child care fees
Financial assistance for child care fees is available to eligible families within Simcoe County. In order to apply, Parents/Guardians must be:
- working
- attending school
- fulfilling a participation agreement with Ontario Works or
- in need of developmental programming for a child with special needs
Eligibility for Child Care Fee Assistance is determined by a standard assessment based on income only. County of Simcoe residents interested in applying for Child Care Fee Assistance should have their childcare arrangement in place prior to scheduling an appointment for assessment of eligibility.

• Services available for children with special needs
The following agencies provide special needs resource services throughout the areas of Simcoe County.

• Programs and Activities for children
The Parent-Child Resource Program (PCRP), located at Base Borden, provides early learning experiences for children 0-6 years and offers a variety of activities designed to provide support, resources and information sharing opportunities for Parents and Care Providers of young children.
An Ontario Early Years Centre, or an OEYC, is a place for children up to the age of six and their parents and caregivers to take part in programs and activities together. Parents and caregivers can also get information about their children's development and about services to support that development.
There are three main Ontario Early Years Centres in Simcoe County, along with satellite locations in each area:
- Barrie-Simcoe-Bradford: main site in Barrie, satellite site in Bradford
- Simcoe-Grey: main site in Collingwood, satellite site in Alliston
- Simcoe-North: main site in Midland, satellite site in Orillia
• Full Day Early Learning
Full-day kindergarten provides four and five year olds with a seamless and integrated day, with support from a kindergarten teacher and an Early Childhood Educator (ECE). Full-day kindergarten was planned to help children get a better education in kindergarten through to Grade 3.
• 211 Ontario
211 is a free, confidential, province-wide helpline that simplifies finding support and community services for Ontario residents. 211 is accessible by telephone anytime by dialing 2-1-1 or through the Internet.
211 is a product of the collaborative efforts of many community and government partners.
