Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program
In 2005, Simcoe County Council approved the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Public Access Defibrillation (CSPS PAD) Program, allowing Paramedic Services to organize the placement of lifesaving devices within the community, thereby increasing the chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest.
The CSPS PAD Program will provide a turn-key solution to organizations interested in placing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in their facility. Organizations interested in placing an AED in their facility should contact:

Continuing Education
The County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, in partnership with hospitals, physicians, the Base Hospital Paramedic Program (Sunnybrook-Osler Centre for Pre-hospital Care) and educational institutes, is committed to the identification, development and promotion of standards for quality Continuing Medical Education (CME) utilized by Paramedics in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for the citizens of the County of Simcoe.
During their career, County of Simcoe Paramedics must continue to successfully complete 48 hours of annual CME sessions, which includes 8 hours of Base Hospital certification to perform defined controlled medical acts. These programs ensure that our Paramedics maintain and enhance their didactic knowledge, mastery of skills, emergency preparedness and technology applications in pre-hospital medical care.
Save-A-Life CPR Day
The County of Simcoe Paramedic Services makes every effort to run two Save-A-Life CPR Days a year. One in February for “Heart Month”, and one in November for “CPR Month”. Participants will receive instructions in the Heart and Stroke Foundation course, utilizing the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s CPR Anytime™ Family & Friends™ Kit. This course includes basic anatomy of the lungs and heart, signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke, adult and child CPR, adult and child choking emergencies, and information on automated external defibrillation (AED). Please read “Frequently Asked Questions" for more information.
