The department is organized into four separate sections, providing a comprehensive range of services to the Corporation, member municipalities, and other community partners.
Client Services
Client Services provide front line support and training to all computer users across the County and escalates technical issues to other department specialists as required. This group is specifically responsible for all desktop and laptop computer deployment including the setup of new user accounts and the installation of associated desktop applications. Help Desk hours are 8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday.

Networks and Communications
Networks and Communications provide technical support to all County network infrastructure including the SCAN wide area network, which links our sites and the local area network infrastructure within each building. This includes telephone connections and service related to telephone system components. The group also manages over 50 central file servers, which support our applications as well as web site and e-mail components. They are also responsible for network and internet security and virus protection.

Corporate Information Systems
The Corporate Information Systems section is responsible for designing, planning, and implementing the corporate database and applications architecture to support business-unit operations throughout the organization. The team co-ordinates the systems analysis and development process for new departmental applications along with the implementation.

Geographical Information Systems
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a functional section of the Information Technology department that maintains a database that is linked to known geographic locations and represented as graphical content on a map. GIS provides advanced capabilities for display, manipulation, and analysis of mapped and unmapped data to help users visualize and better understand geographic relationships. GIS is used for many projects such as Land Use Planning, Emergency Response and Preparedness and coordinating the County’s 911 addressing system.
Geographical Information Systems is made up of:

All Supervisors and Managers report to the Director of Information Technology who reports to the General Manager of Corporate Performance.
