Forest Stewardship Council Certification

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international certification and labelling system dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world's forests.  This means that forests are evaluated to meet FSC's strict environmental and social standards.

The County of Simcoe achieved FSC certification in July 2010 as detailed in the assessment report conducted by the Rainforest Alliance.

As a condition of the certificate, an external review of the 'High Conservation Value Forests' assessment was conducted by Beacon Environmental.  The County response to the recommendations of the report are also provided for review.
